NEW MANAGEMENT TEAM AT SANTANOL PTY
Following the acquisition of Santanol Pty Ltd, one of the world leaders of pure and sustainable natural East Indian Sandalwood Oil, by the Vancouver headquartered forest products company Mercer International Inc. (NASDAQ: MERC), the company has further advanced on the future management structure.
David Brocklehurst has been appointed Managing Director of Santanol Pty Ltd., Perth. He brings decades of experience within the sandalwood community in Western Australia to the business. In addition to manufacturing and plantation management, he will also lead sales activities to all Asian markets out of Perth.
Oliver Stanisch was appointed Sales Director EMEA and is responsible for Santanol sales to all European and Middle East markets whilst based at Mercer Group offices in Germany. Having spent the past 25 years of his career in the fragrance industry, he will use his network to grow Santanol Pty as a trustful and reliable partner for this most prestigious natural ingredient to perfumers.

Santanol owns more than 2,000 hectares of Santalum album plantations in Australia and oversees the entire production process of the East Indian sandalwood oil cycle from natural propagation in its own nursery via plantation management and harvesting to oil extraction by traditional steam distillation. This allows Santanol to be vertically integrated and to maintain full control over the quality and the supply of this most prestigious oil for decades to come.
Mr. Brocklehurst adds: “To ensure a long-term sustainable supply and support the bio-diversity in an arid region in Northern Australia, we replant after each harvest.” Santanol’s plantation has helped to resurrect the much-needed pure natural East Indian sandalwood oil, which has come to the brink of extinction in the past due to illegal over-exploitation and harvesting in its native homelands.
